Ski season arrives in Grangeville area

The Forest Service announced the first trail grooming of the season in the Fish Creek area took place Thursday, Dec. 21, and the Snowhaven Ski and Tubing Area announced the first day of the season there will be Dec. 26.

Ruzicka, girls give PHS a run

Two-and-a-half weeks earlier, Prairie put up a blowout win over the Grangeville girls at the GHS gym, but last Friday night, senior Mikayla Ruzicka and the GHS girls became the first team all season to play the undefeated Pirates to within a single-digit margin.

Prairie sweeps Idaho County Shootout; event nets more than $12K food, dollar donations

Playing without standout point guard Angela Wemhoff for the first time since the senior playmaker's injury earlier this week against Lapwai, the Prairie girls wobbled a bit on the way to a 34-30 home court victory over Grangeville Friday night, Dec. 15. A large turnout for the annual Idaho County Shootout also propelled the PHS boys, who laid claim to a 51-46 win over the Bulldogs.

Clearwater Valley's games against Troy, previously scheduled for this weekend, have been cancelled due to illness on the CV side, the school announced Thursday. Makeup dates have not yet been set.

Benavidez tops Spangle event

Grangeville’s Brittney Benavidez went unbeaten at the first annual all-girls wrestling meet in Spangle, Wash., last weekend and she figures competing alongside the boys at GHS helped her get the advantage in that competition.
