Tax bill includes new roads levy, higher garbage service fees

With notices in the mail, some who own property in Idaho County have seen a big new tax on the bill. Others have seen a tax rate lower than it was last year, but some of those who have seen their rates dip are still owing local governments more overall this year due to a rise in county solid waste fees. Still others – namely, those whose property is served by the Idaho County Road & Bridge Department – have seen both a higher solid waste fee and a significantly higher overall tax rate due to the new levy, which the county commission began considering last summer and approved in September.

Riggins News: Chapmans greeted as new church pastors; dinner a success

Enjoy your loved ones.” Salmon River Community Church greeted its new Pastor Mike and his wife, Becky Chapman, last Sunday evening. They drove cross-country from Indiana in two vehicles to get to Riggins. Some of our church family helped them unpack their truck; they will get things put away where they want them. They are delighted to be here and looking forward to meeting people in our community. Becky returned to Indiana until their two daughters finish their first semester in mid-December. Pastor Mike delivered his first sermon Sunday and will be one of the speakers at the Community Thanksgiving Dinner this Sunday, Nov. 19, 6 p.m.

Riggins News: Community Thanksgiving dinner set for Nov. 19

My quote for the week is “Life is better when you laugh a lot, cry a little, and are thankful for everything you have.” Bingo is tonight, Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 6:30 p.m., at the Riggins Community Center located behind the Chevron Station. Win cash prizes at Bingo which is open to everyone 18 years and older. This senior citizen fund-raiser helps with transportation needs of our senior citizens. Salmon River High Students will honor our local veterans at a Veterans Day program this coming Monday, Nov. 13, at 10 a.m. in the multipurpose room. Quilts of Valor made by our Pinehurst Quilters will be presented to several more of our of veterans. The community is encouraged to attend the program.

Riggins News: Chambliss retires from PTCCU; Umpqua to close
