Labrador announces academy nominations
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Rep. Raúl Labrador (R-ID) announced his office’s nominations to the U.S. service academies recently.
Locals nominated include Abigail Chmelik of Grangeville and Andrew Cochran of Cottonwood for both the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and the U.S. Military Academy.
“It is an honor to nominate driven, capable young Idahoans to the different service academies,” Rep. Labrador said. “These extraordinary young men and women have met exacting requirements to earn their nominations and I am proud to offer my congratulations to all of them. Each one of them deserves our support and respect as they take this next step in service to our country.”

Cowboy Fellowship set for Jan. 25
GRANGEVILLE — Gary and Judy Porter with Rid’n For the Cross Ministries invite everyone to Cross Country Cowboy Fellowship which will be held this Saturday, Jan. 25, 6 p.m., in their fellowship barn. They will be serving baked spaghetti. Bring a side dish to share and a friend for a time of music and fellowship.
Everyone is welcome. The Porters are located at 43 Whitetail Drive just south of Grangeville.
Fund-raiser is Jan. 31
GRANGEVILLE – A Community Garden Dinner and Silent Auction is set for Friday, Jan. 31, 5 to 8 p.m., at The Gallery. Cost is $12.95 for a dinner of shepherd’s pie, green salad and bread. A no-host bar will be available and $1 from each dinner served as well as all tips will benefit the community garden.

Kiwanis meet twice a month in Grangeville
GRANGEVILLE — Area residents are invited to join the Grangeville Kiwanis and help make Grangeville a better place to live.
Grangeville Kiwanis Club meets the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at noon at The Gallery.
GEMS PTA meets Jan. 23
GRANGEVILLE — The monthly meeting of the Grangeville Elementary Middle School PTA is set for Thursday, Jan. 23, 6:15 p.m.
