Salmon River 56, Tri-Valley 0
RIGGINS — Salmon River picked up its ninth win of the season — and its 15th in a row dating back to last season’s 1AD2 title run — with a thorough trouncing of Long Pin Conference foe Tri-Valley.
With standout Leighton Vander Esch in dominant form for the Savages’ senior night, Salmon River put up a 56-0 win in two quarters last Friday night, Oct. 25.
Vander Esch returned two interceptions for touchdowns, and the squad’s entire cast of seniors strutted their stuff on what was likely their final night of action at Ace’s Place.
Vander Esch scored on three runs and two interception returns, and tacked on a passing touchdown with a throw to Terrun Zolman.
The Savages also got touchdown runs from Jimmy Shepherd and McCoy Hale.
Up next, Salmon River (9-0) will play Kootenai in the first round of the 1AD2 playoffs on a date and time to be announced; the Savages have a bye week to prepare for the Warriors (5-3), who will host Clark Fork on Friday night.
Clearwater Valley 52, Potlatch 28
POTLATCH — Clearwater Valley turned out a huge night on offense during a 52-28 blowout last Friday night, Oct. 25, and running back Dillon Fisher was the dynamo. Fisher broke out for 185 rushing yards on scoring plays alone: three long touchdown runs, two of which helped stake the Rams to a 44-6 halftime lead.
CV also scored rushing touchdowns on carries by Trey Pfefferkorn and Will Weaver. The Rams opened the scoring with a 61-yard touchdown pass from Hahots Shebala to Kaden Carr, but emphasized a ground game that produced 553 rushing yards.
Up next, Clearwater Valley’s season finale will be Friday night, Nov. 1, against Genesee. The Rams (5-3 overall, 2-3 league) are in fourth place in the Whitepine League standings.
Kamiah 50, Lapwai 0
LAPWAI — Whatever disappointments may have lingered over Kamiah’s second season of eight-man football, the Kubs obliterated with a heavy-handed win in their season finale at Lapwai last Friday night, Oct. 25.
A 50-0 rout began with a safety — the first of two on the evening — and included two pairs of touchdown runs by Ryker Grimm and Zach Wilkins, a 65-yard touchdown catch by Chris Pethtel, and touchdown runs by Taylor McAlister and Dalton Snyder.
Kamiah finished 3-6 overall.
