Hospice honors Workman for volunteer service
GRANGEVILLE —The Syringa Hospice staff will offer cake in the Syringa Conference Room Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2 p.m. for Connie Workman, RN, for her years of volunteer service with hospice.
She was sworn into the Air Force Nursing Corps in 1964. She served overseas in Vietnam, Korea and Germany as well as in the United States. She retired in 1986.
GHS combined choirs to perform at U of I Holiday Concert
MOSCOW — Members of both the Grangeville High School Concert Choir and Varsity Blue Choir will combine to sing at the University of Idaho annual Holiday Concert on Friday, Dec. 13. Choirs from District II as well as the Washington border will participate in the concert, both in featured performances and joint arrangements with the University Choirs, Orchestra, Marching Band and many more. The event will be held in the U of I Kibbie Dome, free of charge to audience and streamed live for home audiences. GHS teacher candidate, Kara Teats, will join the choir as guest flutist for the choir’s feature, “Midnight in Bethlehem.” The group is under the direction of Kathy Stefani.
Turkeys needed for food bank
GRANGEVILLE — Camas Prairie Food Bank is in need of turkeys. Anyone able to donate can bring them to the food bank on Tuesdays or Fridays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Turkeys can also be dropped off at Les Schwab anytime. For questions or other arrangements call Carlene at 983-5475.
Camas Prairie Food Bank is located at 411 E. North St., the corner of North St. and Florence. The building is next to the Community Garden and in the back of Grangeville Health and Rehab.
EMT course set for January
GRANGEVILLE — A Basic EMT course is set to start in January and run through June. Meetings will probably take place Monday and Thursday nights and will be held at the Soltman Center. Sign up or inquire by calling Bill Spencer or Linda Fox at 983-1700.
Fly model aircraft each Friday at GEMS
GRANGEVILLE —The Indoor-Outdoor Model Flying Club will meet every Friday at Grangeville Elementary Middle School gym through Christmas, 7 p.m. Anyone interested in flying model aircraft is invited to stop by. Call 983-1698.
Christmas concert for Grangeville grades 6-12 is next Wednesday
GRANGEVILLE — A Christmas concert for Grangeville students grades 6-12 is set for Wednesday, Dec. 18, 6:30 p.m., in Grangeville High School gym. All Grangeville performing groups will be featured including Concert and Varsity Blue choirs, GHS band, and GEMS beginning and middle school bands. Handicap seating is available upon request. The Grangeville Music Department has Bulldog Card Boxes available for the holidays, with Bulldog Cards packaged within candies, for a $10 donation.
Farm Forest Health workshop set for Dec. 13 in Orofino
OROFINO — The Current Topics in Farm and Forest Health workshop will be held Dec. 13 in Orofino, co-sponsored by University of Idaho Extension in Clearwater County and Idaho Department of Lands.
Topics for this year’s annual conference include wildfire protection for landowners, invasive species spread, Douglas fir bark beetle management, acid soils, tree death causes, and protecting pollinators from pesticides.
Workshop registration is $15, and the event will be held at the U.S. Forest Service offices, 12730 U.S. Highway 12. Contact Bill Warren, 476-4434.
